Keith Rovell, vice chairman of the Texas Motorcycle Safety Coalition (TMSC), was interviewed recently on Houston Matters regarding motorcycle safety. The program also talked to Michael Payne, the executive director of Bike Houston; Laura Spanjian, sustainability director for the City of Houston; and Deidrea Samuels, public information officer with the Texas Department of Transportation.
Rovell talked about the TMSC, protective gear, motorcycle vulnerability, and the responsibilities of both motorists and motorcyclists. He also pointed out the importance of being a licensed rider.
“If we can just get more people licensed, hopefully that would have an impact in getting incidences down,” said Rovell.
Rovell also warned motorists to watch out for motorcyclists.
“When you see a motorcyclist, think that they may be a friend or a relative.”
